FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Wolf Defender Jev?

Wolf Defender Jev is an open decision model from Patronus Protect for AI agent security. It takes an agent's scene, a security question and the possible answers, and returns a calibrated probability for each answer. It has 151 million parameters, is built on mmBERT-small and is released under the MIT licence on Hugging Face.

What does Jev-like mean?

Jev is a model from TypeSafe that returns typed decisions with probabilities instead of text. Jev-like is the community name for open models with the same interface: a state plus named questions of type choice, noul or score. Examples are Kev, Clef-flash, GLiNER2.5-Decide and Julia-1.

Is Wolf Defender Jev a replacement for Jev?

No. Wolf Defender Jev is specialised for security decisions in agent scenes and only adopts the question format. We have not compared it with Jev itself, and it has not been evaluated on general decisions outside security.

Does Wolf Defender Jev need a GPU?

No. On an Apple M4, one decision with PyTorch on the CPU takes 39 milliseconds for a short 51-token scene and 194 milliseconds for 833 tokens. Answer options can be encoded once and reused.

Which languages does Wolf Defender Jev support?

Scenes, questions and options can be written in 15 languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Russian, Turkish, Vietnamese and Chinese. Other languages have not been evaluated.

How is Wolf Defender Jev different from Wolf Defender?

Wolf Defender answers one question: is this text a prompt injection? Wolf Defender Jev answers any security question about an agent step, with answer options you write yourself, for example whether a proposed action serves the user's task or sends data to an outside party.
