FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is role spoofing in AI agents?

An attacker formats untrusted content to look like a message from the user or another privileged role. A tool result can then influence the model as if it contained a new authorized instruction, while remaining a tool result in the actual conversation.

Does writing user: on a web page create a real user message?

In a correctly constructed conversation, it remains page content. The model may still misinterpret it. The application must also ensure that untrusted strings cannot create actual message boundaries during serialization.

Does role spoofing require multiple chats?

This attack can arrive in one tool result within the current agent workflow. Attacks involving stored memories or later conversations require separate evaluation.
